Bible Studies and Devotions
Adult Bible Studies
Our Sunday afternoon adult Bible study will be resuming soon. However, you are invited to join us for a new study called "Transformation". This Bible study is for those that truly desire to live a different life, one that goes beyond the pew. We are currently using Bill Hybels' "Getting a Grip: Finding Balance in Your Daily Life" study. This group is currently meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month in the church's library.
Co-Ed Christian Fellowship
Some of the young adults in our congregation have started their own Bible Study group called CCF (Co-Ed Christian Fellowship). The group is geared towards those aged 18 to 25 but is open to anyone that would like to attend. This group not only holds regular Bible studies but is also involved in their own fundraising and service projects. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Bryan Moretz at bmoretz@vt.edu. You can also find out more about Young Adult ministries within the United Methodist Church as a whole by visiting www.gbod.org/youngpeople/yanet. If you believe you would be interested in serving as a Young Adult Leader (there's always room for more events and ministries involving young adults in our church and community), visit the GBOD Young Adult Leaders web site for more information and ideas.
New Member Class
A new study is being offered this fall called "Being Methodist in the Bible Belt". It will be structured as a new member class and there will be an opportuntity to join the church on a special new member Sunday when the study is complete. However, the class is open to anyone over the age of 15 who would like to better understand the United Methodist Church. For more information, contact Pastor Greer.
Teen Bible Study
Hey, Facebook Generation . . .
You love leaving messages for each other, uploading crazy photos, sharing your interests, completing surveys, and you do
all of this in a strange language on the computer that your parents just don’t get. Have you ever thought about the fact
that God does understand you even when adults don’t? He has a message for you and He is LOL with you during the
good times and :-( when you’re down and confused. He wants you to share your blogs with Him and would love a comment from
you every once-in-awhile.
We currently offer a Teen Bible Study on Wednesday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for you to study the Bible more so that
you can learn what God has to say to you and grow in your faith and understanding. For more information, contact Kim Medley at 921-0456,
kkmedley@vt.edu, IM to vtwbbfan12, http://www.myspace.com/vtwbbfan, or
http://vt.facebook.com/profile.php?id=6227657.
We are currently studying some of the Old Testament leaders and prophets. These characters led fascinating lives (a father prepares to kill his son, a man actually
wrestles with God, and another fights off the sexual advances of his boss' wife), but the temptations they faced are really that different from your own. Come and
learn how they handled difficult situations and how you can apply their wisdom to your own life.
