Children's Church
Children's Church is provided on the 2nd Sunday of each month for children ages 5 to 10 during the 11:00 a.m.
Worship Service. Lee and Emily Walker coordinate this ministry for the church. In 2010, we will be learning what is an Acolyte, what are their
responsibilities, why we perform them, and how to do so correctly. Also, children will become familiar with their House of Worship, focus on Worship
and how the Order of Worship is organized in a meaningful and powerful way, how Ritual and Liturgy is involved in that, and will be celebrating the
Christian Year as we go along. All of this will be presented in a fun, age-appropriate, interactive way that we pray will reap amazing fruit
that will be evident in the life of the children and the church!

P.R.A.Y. (Programs of Religious Activities with Youth)
In connection with our Scouting Ministry, we are now offering the P.R.A.Y Program.
P.R.A.Y. is a not-for-profit organization best known for religious awards programs. The P.R.A.Y. program helps young people to develop a deeper
relationship with God and to understand how God is active in their lives and in the world around them. We are providing this program primarily for boys and girls in scouting to be able to earn religious
awards, however, you do not have to be a scout to participate.

what is being taught in the classroom and a lifestyle rooted in faith. ********************************************* Vacation Bible School The Pembroke First United Methodist Church's held its annual

GOD AND ME (1st - 3rd Grade) - The "God and Me" curriculum is designed to help children become best friends with Jesus and tell their story of “God and Me”
together. Children learn that God is their Creator and that God calls
them by name, and they can give praise to God. As they tell parallel stories of
their own birth and the birth of Jesus, they proclaim that Jesus was born to be their Savior. Children are encouraged to talk and listen to
God as they share from their heart. As children learn to lean on God as their Good Shepherd, they are challenged to reach out and be “good shepherds” to those around them. This class just
concluded for this school year and will be offered again next summer or early fall.

GOD AND FAMILY (4th & 5th Grade) - The "God and Family" curriculum is designed to help youth understand the importance of family and
God’s role in a healthy family. Children read about different families in the Bible, and to remember
these lessons, children compare families and “pizza.” The six steps for making pizza give students a concrete, “hands-on” model on which to
build their understanding of God’s love for their families. They make a pizza as they study how families can grow together in God’s love, and
they choose “family projects” to be done with their family at home. Our church offered this class during the fall months. It will be offered
again next year.
GOD AND CHURCH (6th - 8th Grade) - The "God and Church" program leads young people on a faith journey with three parts: meeting Jesus,
worshiping God, and witnessing and ministering for Christ. Participants create either a video or a photo album to share what they learn.
Young people have the opportunity to work with their pastor or other Christian adult as they study the church's
structures and objectives and participate in service projects that give them a better understanding of the mission of the church. Plans are to offer this class
in the upcoming months.
GOD AND LIFE (9th - 12th Grade) - The "God and Life" curriculum is the final program in the P.R.A.Y. series and focuses on the life of the Apostle Paul as
recorded in Acts 9:1-31. If there is sufficient interest, this class will also be offered.
